MX MasterClass
Welcome to the Master Class
Thank you for joining this master class. Your presence here is appreciated, and we’re honored to share this work with you.
This system is built on more than 30 years of experience in motocross—through racing, coaching, rider development, and the continual refinement of performance-based technique. Ryan Hughes has dedicated decades to understanding not just how riders compete, but how they move, stabilize, and improve on the bike at every level.
Alongside racing and coaching, that work has expanded into the development of training systems, motocross-specific equipment, and performance-focused education designed to support riders in becoming more connected, efficient, and confident on the track.
What you’re about to step into is a structured approach to riding that has been shaped through real-world experience at the highest levels of the sport, and refined through years of working directly with riders of all ages and skill levels.
This master class will introduce you to foundational principles that influence every part of your riding—balance, control, positioning, and awareness on the bike. These are not surface-level adjustments; they are structural changes in how you interact with the motorcycle.
We encourage you to approach this material with openness. Not because you need to forget everything you know, but because improvement often comes from seeing familiar things in a new way, with more precision and clarity.
Each technique is designed to build on the last, creating a system that supports both immediate improvement and long-term development.
Welcome to the process.

Technique 1: Control The Bike From The Ground Up
Control the Bike from the Ground Up
The foundation of Ryan Hughes’ riding system begins at the lowest point of contact between your body and the motorcycle: your feet.
If you learn to control the bike with your feet and ankles, everything else becomes easier. Your balance improves, the bike tracks straighter, traction increases, and you can ride with more speed and less effort.
This is the first and most important principle in Ryan’s Six Points of Control.

Technique 2: Unlocking The Hips - Becoming One With The Bike
Becoming One with the Bike
The second point in Ryan Hughes’ Six Points of Control is the hips.
If your feet are the foundation, your hips are the hinge that allows your upper and lower body to work independently.
When your hips are unlocked, the motorcycle can move beneath you while your upper body remains calm, balanced, and in control.
This is what Ryan means by becoming one with the bike.

Technique 5: Eyes
Eyes: Vision Creates Speed
This section teaches that where you look determines how you ride. Riders learn to look ahead instead of down, improving reaction time, relaxation, and control. Vision leads the body, reduces tension, and allows the rider to flow through corners, ruts, and terrain with clarity and speed.

Technique 6: The Mind
The Mind: Control the Internal Game
This final section addresses the mental side of racing. Riders learn how thought patterns, fear, and expectation directly affect performance. The mind is shown as a source of tension when overactive and a source of flow when quieted. By shifting from thinking to feeling, riders develop trust, presence, and consistency under pressure.
